Sex, Pork, and Persecution: How One Young Man's Fight against Conformity Led to Imprisonment and Vilification

Background -- In July 2013, I was arrested, denied bail, and jailed in Malaysia's Sungai Buloh federal prison for posting a photograph on Facebook that allegedly insulted Islam:

To say that the incident turned my life upside-down is a massive understatement.

Between the endless sleepless nights, constant anxiety, and losing most of my savings/wealth to lawyer fees (fuck my lawyer, by the way, he was an opportunistic piece of shit), I had to use my wit and grit to plot a plan to solve this problem.

I knew I couldn't argue my way in court, because my case had been politicized heavily in the media; even the Malaysian Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, former Prime Minister, and Inspector-General of the Royal Malaysian Police were asking for my head, and the courts were corrupt as fuck obviously.

I wasn't stupid enough to trust the judicial system of a third-world shithole Islamic country.

I was receiving death threats on a daily basis, and Muslims who recognized me in public were very hostile to say the least.

Genesis

So while I lay low to figure out a plan, I decided to write a memoir detailing my crazy experiences throughout this entire rollercoaster ordeal, from my life right before this incident and being interrogated by the cops to trying to hide from the cops, my eventual surrender/arrest, my experiences in Sungai Buloh federal prison, and also my fortuitous escape to Mexico, then on to America to seek asylum.

For a while, my memoir even made it to print (before it was banned by the Malaysian Home Affairs Ministry in 2015):

So, yes, this is literally a banned book, a rare collector's item. 😎

At the very least, you will feel challenged to question (or it might even further strengthen) some of the beliefs and principles that you have. Personally, a maxim that I got from his book that really stood out for me is, “Finish what matters; be finished with what doesn’t.”
